Free Garment Tags
Without a doubt, adding a product tag, garment tag, hanging tag, whatever you call it, from your embroidered item really adds that little bit of professionalism that will allow you to charge that little bit extra.
Myth 1: Product tags are expensive, and you have to have 1000's printed
WRONG: You can get them in small quantities and you don't have to break the bank.
Myth 2: I can get just as good results printing them myself
WRONG: I can tell you now that they won't look good, and may even reduce the value of your item. Even seen a thin, home-made business card?
Myth 3: I have to get them designed and that's going to cost
WRONG: You can design online these days and its dead simple, and cheap!
I'm going to introduce you to Vistaprint. They are well known for printing business cards for free (all you pay is the shipping cost), but these business cards can be used equally as well as hanging tags for your garments, towels, furniture, hats, caps, aprons whatever you embroider onto.
Here is what you do:
A) Order your printed business cards and include the following on the card:
Your name, your contact details, your website address or email address if you have one. Just ensure that they will be able to order more with what you put on there. If you want to get really clever, add a sentence that allows the purchaser to get a discount of further purchases! Make sure there is no writing or design at one end of the card. The cost of 250 including shipping to the UK without the Vistaprint advert on the back with be around £10.00.
B) When they arrive, get a hole punch and punch a single hole through the card at one end, not too close to the edge. This is why you left some space at one end of the card in step A!
C) Get some rough twine and tie it in a loop through the hole. You should then be able to pass the loop through the label of the garment, and then the card through the loop so that it hangs. We have bought some nice designer clothes that have labels attached just like this! It really looks great.
