3) Make your items look professional
This has nothing to do with stitch quality, its about presentation.  If your customers are paying store prices, they expect the item to be bagged and tagged.  It's really cheap to do, check out the menu on the right for help with this.  If there is one thing that we did to move our business to the next level it was this.

4) Keep accurate financial records
You have registered as a business haven't you? In the UK this is a legal requirement.  You can get fined if you fail to register (it's free) and you can do it over the phone or online.

More than this though, you need to know how much it costs to create your item.  There are lots of costs (albeit small) with items like needles, backing, bags and tags, thread and bobbins to cover the cost of.  Oh, and the one thing most everyone forgets.  YOUR TIME!  Sewing for fun AND profit remember!  You can use thois information to see exactly how much you are making per item.

5) Don't stand still
One problem with small niches is that they can change quickly.  Find more niches and spread your risk.  Don't worry, they will come!
