Using The PR600
Working with designs
Using the PR600 is not as difficult as the 200+ page menu would make you think! The large touchscreen has a simple to follow menu, and the USB cable makes transferring designs from your computer to the machines memory is a simple process. If you prefer to use Compact Flash Cards (up to 128mb) or even floppy disks (remember them!?) you can use those too. There is also a slot for Embroidery Cards although I have never used those.
Built in designs
We do not use the built in designs because there are only 14 of them, but we do use the built in lettering. The lettering is of a better quality than the digitising software we use (Embird) and easy to create. You do have limited choice of fonts or type faces though.
There is a useful test design though that will help you set the tension of the upper and lower (bobbin) thread consisting of 6 bars. The tension is VERY consistant on this machine. It arrived from the factory set up correctly and we have not had to adjust it more than once of twice a year since then.
Embroidery Speed
While the PR600 is capable of speeds up to 1000 stitches per minute, we have found that running at around 600 will produce the best results on polo shirts and t-shirts. The faster you go, the more the fabric bounces and the design can move a little.
Time you will save from having 6 colours on the go and the automatic needle threading and embroidery thread cutting more than makes up for that 400 stitches per minute!
